Going mobile
Welp. My mom found the blog. And she told me to keep writing. So here I am again.
I think is like to set up a few rules. Ones that don’t allow me to wallow in self loathing or say things that feel, in the end, that I’m fishing for approval, a hall pass, or compliments.
Rule 1, I’m not allowed to comment on much time has passed since I last posted. The dates are right there. It’s obvious and irrelevant.
Rule 2, keep writing. Even if I break rule 1.
Okay. Now that we’ve cleared that up, shall we continue?
I think maybe I should also implement rule 3, which is that I’m allowed to be bad. I’m allowed to be bad at writing, at coming up with ideas, with seeing this whole thing through. Because… I don’t even realize what ideas of perfection I’ve set for myself until I look at a screen and think, “NO, that’s not it!” With all the tragic flair of an early Jane Austen novel. Back of hand, meet forehead.
Similarly to an early Jane Austen novel, that’s all silly nonsense (or “silky concrete,” as autocorrect attempted to write for me. I suppose that’s its own kind of euphemism for the comically absurd.)
There’s no such thing as perfection, especially as it relates to this particular creative exercise. I’m writing because I like to - I like to, remember, I like to! And there’s no reason to stop because one or two or five of the goal posts I didn’t even realise I had set have remained unreached.
Oh well!
Who cares!
Soldier on.
For some reason I’ve been mildly resistant to figuring out how to post to the blog on my phone. I really, really love typing away on my computer. But the phone is practical, and I’m swiping away at my screen to make this post, and I suppose if it results in more writing it can’t be all bad. I’ll still try to get to my computer when I can. But for the in betweens, phone posts are better than no posts.
Mobile blog! Posted in between the baby’s lullaby ending and the baby getting set down in his cot. She’s done it.
