Nothing
I’ve had little ideas flit across my mind today, beginnings of things to write about.
I need to schedule my Life In The UK test (man, the practice tests for that are fun/comical/wild).
I’m eating roast chicken crisps, and hey-dee-ho, what a strange flavour that I never had growing up in America.
I’m looking at my (albeit small) pile of books obtained on our most recent vacation, happy for the purchases but curious as to when I’ll actually get to reading them.
Nothing but the mundane, but also plenty to write about, given the inclination. But maybe I missed the window today, because I am leaning heavily towards bed.
Tom asked me today if I was posting about these blog entries, and I said “no.” I post about very little these days on social media. I wouldn’t mind people reading these missives but as soon as I start shouting into the void of instagram “Hey! Here! Look at what I made!” I get obsessive about reach, interaction, the whole nine yards. And I just don’t want to obsess over that for this.. project. And that lack of obsession makes it a little easier to be vulnerable and mildly shitty when it comes to subject matter or lack thereof, I suppose.
I get kind of obsessive about the things I create, regardless of social media. I’ve read over all the previous blog posts, several times. I like my writing. I enjoy reading it, more often than not. I do the same things with my songs - they’ll get stuck in my head for a little while until I move on to the next one. And they’re nice to revisit. But you’re supposed to do that with songs, I think. Are you supposed to do that with writing? I don’t know enough about being a writer to know the answer to that. And that’s just fine with me. I’m happy to keep to the enjoyment of the thing.
Real talk though, these roast chicken crisps are pretty fantastic. They have rosemary extract in them. I’m not the biggest fan of that herb, but wow does it work here. Nom nom nom.
(I’m really gonna have to fight off the presentation of literary awards with closing sentences like “nom nom nom” in my blog that no one knows about.)
